heart brain something ain't right brain heart

Yeah. Something isn't right in here.
With any disease like mine it's tempting to say there were no signs. But that wouldn't be true. There were, in fact, signs.
I had an utterly explosive temper as a kid. I now am treated for temporal lobe epilepsy, which that's characteristic of.
I used to be incredibly flexible in ways I shouldn't really have been. (Still am). Nobody picked up on that. Somehow.

Most kids were dropped*. I was also pulled out of the womb so hard it gave me an astigmatism. (*citation needed)
I died shortly after I was born premature since my entire placenta decided to turn into a blood clot, then swiftly undied.

I never used to get sick. Not a cold, not a sniffle, nothing, never. 100% attendance at school.
This is a telltale sign that my immune system was working overtime back then. Until it decided it didn't like me anymore.

Now, I have persistent antibodies against something called cardiolipin. For some reason this raises my risk of clotting. (shocker)
This antibody and general inflammation, plus my immune system making TOO MUCH immune system, told the doctors I have something called UCTD.

It's taken 5 years to get a diagnosis and start treatment. In the middle of this all, my immune system decided to take exception to my brain. I have epilepsy as a result of it.
Maybe if it had been caught early, I would be fine, but as it is, medication works, and I unlock a new genre of risky jokes.

My body does not like my connective tissues. It does not like sticking together, or sunlight, or pollen or sleep deprivation.
Whilst it's not curable, and the damage it seems to have done to my brain isn't fixable, there's an almost miracle drug.
hydroxychloroquine hydroxychloroquinehydroxychloroquine
It stops your immune system from damaging your organs when you have a flare. We have no idea why but I fucking love it.
